Direct Aid Program

The world has changed - and our aid program is changing too. Today, many developing countries are growing repidly, with aid representing an increasingly small proportion of development finance. To be effective in this new context, our aid is becoming more innovative and catalytic.

The Direct Aid Program

The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a small grants program funded from Australia's aid budget.  The emphasis of the program is on alleviating basic humanitarian hardships and is an integral component of Australia’s overseas development program. It has the flexibility to work with local communities in developing countries on projects that reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development consistent with Australia's national interest.

The Australian High Commission, Malta with non-resident accreditation to Tunisia only considers DAP applications from Tunisia. If you are outside Tunisia and seeking DAP funding, you can find out if your country is eligible for DAP and where your administering post is here.

The Australian Government provides funding to local organisations to build and grow projects that support communities in Tunisia through DAP.

Applications for 2024 funding are now closed. Applications for Australia's Direct Aid Program funding in 2025 will open in July 2025.
